Pycnometers

Density Measurement with Helium

The PYCNOMATIC allows the measurement of true density of solids, pastes or liquids. An integrated microprocessor controls the complete measurement and calibration procedure. An internal temperature regulator compensates outside influences from room temperature. The Pycnomatic delivers unrivalled fast and accurate results.

The highest temperature stability means the highest accuracy of results.

Pycnomatic offers extremely precise temperature control through the use of a powerful built-in Peltier element. This device controls the reference and sample chambers' temperature with a precision of +/- 0.01 °C. It also permits the user to set the analysis temperature in the range from 18.00°C to 35.00°C, in steps of 0.01°C. This precise temperature control avoids any affect of volume changes that can occur due to room temperature fluctuations during the test thus ensuring accurate and reproducible results.

Utmost flexibility assured by real multi-volume capability

In density measurement, the best accuracy is produced when the sample volume is matched to the measuring chamber of a gas pycnometer. The shape and characteristics of solid samples can sometimes make it almost impossible to match the optimal analytical conditions, especially if different types of materials have to be tested. A real multi-volume and multi-reference chambers instrument offers the utmost flexibility and accuracy, regardless of the available quantity of sample. Pycnomatic features five different sample chambers, ranging from four to one hundred cubic centimeters. The user can easily change the chamber volume to match the material under test. The instrument will automatically select the optimal volume for the reference chamber. The pycnomatic can keep in memory up to three calibration sets for both reference and sample chambers.

Safe analysis of powders

Pycnomatic is uniquely designed to eliminate any risk of contaminating valves and tubing which can be a consequence associated with the analysis of fine powders. In the Pycnomatic, venting to atmosphere can be performed through a dedicated outlet port that ensures the pressure drops slowly down to atmospheric value without any risk of either sample loss or system contamination.
